Using BNI® PromoCards for “Chapter Development”

At the Core Group Development Stage:

 BNI® PromoCards help enthusiastic Chapter Members (especially new ones)

  • It is at the “Core Group” stage that we ask “Core Group Members” for their help to introduce contacts that they may have or come across to BNI®.

  • It is naturally a time when they may not yet fully understand the BNI® concept and system. It is often the time that “New Members” get most excited and immediately approach their best contacts. There may not be much time for training at this stage.

  • The BNI® PromoCard would instantly add credibility to their story and backs-up that enthusiasm. - They don’t have to suddenly become an expert on networking to their friends.
  • They can immediately pass on the BNI® PromoCard as an invitation with details of the meeting and a website, to potential guests so they can check it out further for themselves. "Documentation Beats Conversation!"

  • It is at the “Core Group” stage that we ask “Core Group Members” for their help by introducing any contacts that they may have or come across.

  • For example, often it may not be possible or appropriate to pull out brochures, marketing materials etc. to back up their story. However they could at anytime easily pull out from their wallet or purse a BNI® PromoCard in a natural way, as one would a normal Business Card.

The Existing Chapter:

  • BNI® Chapters like most good business can experience a certain amount of attrition so it is important to have our feelers out for new “Chapter Members all the time.
  • After a “Chapter” has been launched it still usually needs to increase it’s membership.

    The BNI®PromoCards remain a valuable “invitation tool” which can be kept in the “Members Card Holder” and used at the appropriate time.
  • They can be useful in several ways in an existing “Chapter”, for example, when creating a “Visitors day” or just as a "invitation tool" to keep inviting new guests each week.
  • It would be especially useful support for newer “Chapter Members”, who may have the enthusiasm but not yet have the full understanding, confidence and inviting skills.
  • As “Chapter Members” start to use the system it will make inviting simpler and more effective, especially for less confident inviters.
  • By making the invitation easier and more effective, it will not only increase the numbers invited but also the success ratio of invitations.

    It will help increase and maintain “Chapter Membership”, and may well open the flood gates in a lot of Chapters.

BNI® PromoCard Dispensers:

  • They can be left in strategic places with “Chapter” details i.e. doctors, therapist, surgeries, boutiques, etc.

  • If a distributor owns a business, i.e. solicitor, garage, florist etc. - they can neatly display an attractive BNI® PromoCard dispenser.

An Additional Simple Strategy

  • BNI® Members can use them by inoffensively introducing themselves to local businesses and getting permission to leave a dispenser of BNI® PromoCards in a strategic place. Maybe even invite the owners to a meeting i.e. dentists, gymnasiums, hairdressers etc.

Example of Invitation using BNI®PromoCard

A “Chapter Member” can simply tell a potential guest a little about their experience about BNI and explain that “we are looking for i.e. a “Good Designer” to whom we might be able refer some business”.

If they are interested, it’s then simple and useful to leave the BNI®PromoCard as an invitation.

  • It adds credibility – “Documentation Beats Conversation”

  • Confirms and reminds why, when and where they are coming.

  • Gives them something to show a spouse to justify an early breakfast meeting.

  • Reminds them of a Website where  they can check it out further

It is then best to suggest that, you will email them and then call before the meeting, to confirm.

BNI ® PromoCards can be customised by individual Chapters and Members

  • Can be overprinted with an inkjet or laser printer.

  • Using “Microsoft Word” in “Print Setup” make “page size” 8.5mm x 16.5mm or a little larger and type in details & fed through printer.

  • Convenient for labels or can be written on with pen or rubber stamped.
